The World Trick Shot Championship is the world's championship of trick shot billiards. The first edition of the competition took place in 1991 on snooker table. Matchroom Sport organized it. Matchroom Sport organised the event. Players were evaluated on technical merit and presentation. The competition was held in 2005 at Celtic Manor.
Many international professional billiards player began to perform trick shots during the 1970s. These players were given prizes, such as the World Championship of Artistic Pool or the International Challenge Cup. Trick shot is a pool game that has been sanctioned by The World Pool-Billiard Assocation. Aside from playing in tournaments, trick shot artists also teach others the sport.
Mike Massey was a famous trick shot artist in the world since the late 70s. Massey has shared many games with athletes like Jason Gedrick or Paul Sorvino. Massey is also an instructor and fund-raiser for the sport. His performances at the Waste Management Pheonix Open and the Volvo PGA at Wentworth have garnered him a significant level of visibility.
Mike Massey has taught many professionals in the sport including Scott Baiin, Dean Cain and James Tolkan. He has won several professional international competitions, and has been a member of Team U.S.A., which won the trick shot world championship in 2002. The team performed at both the HSBC Championships Abu Dhabi as well as the Commercial Bank Qatar Masters.
Jim Sommer is another talented trick shot artist. He has been a participant in international Trick-shot turns and has also traveled to America to compete in the US Nationals. He won the US Nationals Artistic Pool Championship.
The World Trick Shot Artists Association of (WTSAA), a group that includes trick shot artists from all parts of the globe, is called the World Trick Shot Artists Association. The association is organized by world champion Paul Gerni. The WTSAA's book includes 160 tricks. These tricks include the machine gun shot and the quick-fire shot. Other tricks shots include the "pro", "extreme", and "prop" shots.
Tim "The Dragon", Chin, was the 2022 US Nationals Artistic Pool Champion. He defeated Jason "The Michigan Kid," Lynch to take the prestigious title. Both Lynch, Chin, and Lynch have been WPA World Ranked. Lynch is still an Ohio State student, but Chin has the advantage as a seasoned professional.
The next Trick Shot Magic event will be held on October 9-10. The event will include eight international stars. They will compete to win a purse of $40,000. Each player will have six to ten choices. Each player will get three chances at completing the shot once they have chosen their favorites. A point will be awarded to the player who completes a successful shot.
Geoff McIlroy was the best trick shot artist of all time for many years. He became inspired to play trick shots after watching Noel Hunt. Although he has fallen off ladders and met people he never expected to meet, he has never stopped trying.
