The American Poolplayers Association, (APA), is the largest pool league worldwide. It has close to 270,000 members across the United States, Canada, Japan. They have also been ranked as one of the top small business opportunities by Franchise Business Review.
The sanctioning body of amateur pool competitions in Canada, the United States, and the United States is APA. They host several major pool tournaments every year, including the APA World Pool Championships. Guinness World Records proclaimed 2010 the APA World Pool Championships "World's Largest Pool Tournament".
APA also hosts nine-ball or eight-ball tournaments. Every player on an APA team must be a member of APA. Eligible to participate are members of other pool associations. If you are interested in joining APA, you can submit a Membership Application to your local APA League Operator. The President will interview you.

APA holds three other annual championships in addition to the APA Poolplayer Championships. These include APA Junior Championships that are open to kids and teens between 7-18 years.
The APA Poolplayer Championships will be held in Las Vegas Nevada. They are usually held in May or April. This tournament offers qualified players an opportunity to compete with poolplayers from all over the globe.
APA also hosts many international tournaments. These tournaments are organized by APA local League Operator franchisees. Those who do not qualify to compete at a national level can still take part in qualifying tournaments. Some players refer to APA's handicapping system as the "Equalizer". APA's handicapping system, unlike other tournaments is not based upon A-D rankings. It instead uses a proprietary system that ranks the highest 3 scores. It is possible to get more than three ratings.
Some APA franchisees may have conflicts of interest. For example, one franchisee has been accused of kicking out players. APA is entitled to make this determination, but the franchisee has posted in multiple ** groups and recruited players to his area. The franchisee tried to claim that APA had thrown out a few players from his territory.

Numerous APA League Operators won the coveted APA League Operator of the Year award. Five of the five winners were honored during the APA Annual Convention. One of these operators was the only APA locale to win the award two times.
Another reason to join APA would be its extensive network of franchise outlets. APA boasts a network of over 270 League Operators located in the United States and Canada. Some of these areas offer in-house Divisions. APA is the biggest pool league in the globe, but a local League Operator doesn't have the authority or the right to switch to a new league.
APA has a more than 270,000 strong network, but there are also more than 270 League operators who organize pool tournaments. These locations are affiliated with APA and may have additional costs. Depending on the market, the fee for a franchisee may include licensing fees and equipment. Marketing expenses are also possible.
