
Shaun Murphy is an international snooker player. He is known for his long-potting and straight cue actions. In his career, he has been able to achieve over 400 century breaks. This includes the second highest break in the Championship League for 2014.
At the beginning of 2008/2009, Murphy was ranked third in the world. However, he fell to number seven for the 2010/2011 season. In 2011 he won the Players Tour Championship and completed his career Triple Crown. Murphy was considered a big underdog so Murphy's win was unexpected. In 2012, he reached the finals of the UK Championship. He was however defeated by Judd Trump.
Murphy is considered a talented player and he has achieved many firsts in his career. These include his first 147 break and his first ranking title. He also made his first appearance in the World Snooker Championship.
He began his career on the Challenge Tour, also known as the UK Tour, in 1998. Tony, his dad, was a professional player golfer. He was bullied in school as a teenager. He attended homeschooling, but did not meet his mother until he turned 19. A year later, he met his wife, Elaine, and they were married in June 2006. Despite the fears of his family, he and Elaine were married in 2014.

Shaun has won over PS3 millions in prize money throughout his career. He has won seven tournaments that are not ranking. He has also participated in eight tournaments that rank him, reaching the quarterfinals for two.
He was ranked fourth in the world at the beginning of the 2004/2005 season. He was also the winner of the Brugge Open, and the Welsh Open. By this time, he had been diagnosed with Savant Syndrome, a condition in which a person with autism has superior skills.
He won the World Championship in 2005. He was also named Sportsman of the year by the BBC the following year. He became a San Jose St. Bonaventure Hospital surgeon in California.
When Murphy was a young boy, he had difficulty communicating with other people. Murphy's social skills may have been affected by this. He has been in many difficult romantic relationships but has managed to overcome them all. Elaine was his girlfriend when he proposed to her at an Irish restaurant.
Ray Reardon was his coach when he was 15 years old. From then on, he was coached by Ray Reardon. He continued working with Steve Prest through 2006. Willie Thorne served as his coach during the 2007/2008 seasons. He won the Challenge Tour’s third & fourth events.

Murphy won China's Wuxi Classic. He then entered the elite top 16. His next appearance was the inaugural Northern Ireland Trophy. Despite having only five frames of qualifying, he reached the quarterfinals to beat teenager Luca Brecel.
He went on to win the German Masters and the Ruhr Championship as well as the inaugural Northern Ireland Trophy. For the entire 2008/2009 season, he was still ranked number 3. He also reached the semi finals of both the Shanghai Masters and UK Championship during that season.
