There are many types of pool cues available. There is an English pool, American, and jump pool cue. These types all have their own unique characteristics. You'll be better prepared to make the best decision for yourself if you learn more about them.
American pool cues
There are a number of differences between American pool cues and English cues. American cues are usually split in their middle, while English cues split at the 3/4-point. English pool and Snooker games are increasingly using 3/4 joints. This cue allows the player balance the weight higher than it would with a standard cue. Try out different cues before you decide on the one that suits your needs best.
Pool cues in English
An English pool cue may be the best choice for you if you are an intermediate or beginner pool player. These cues are typically thinner than other styles, and can measure between eight and nine millimeters in width at the tip. A brass ferrule is often added to increase strength and durability. They are also made from ash wood, which has a unique grain.

Snooker cues
There are many wood options for making snooker cues. Some are made out of Ash, while others are made out of maple. They can have a tip length of between 16 and 18 inches, with a maximum height of seven to eleven mils. Snooker cues weigh between sixteen and nineteen ounces, with 3/4th joints. You can also have snooker cups made from steel, stainless, or titanium ferrules.
Jump cues
Jump cues can be described as a pool cue having a hard tip. They help the player transfer more power into the cue ball. There are many jump cues available, and the best ones can help improve your jump shots. However, before buying a jump cue, make sure you consider what its pros and cons are.
Squirt
A squirt can be caused by a cue ball being struck off-center. It causes the ball’s motion to change direction and creates a deflection. The deflection occurs due to physics. However, it can also be caused a by many factors. For example, an off center hit can cause the tip on the cue ball's to come in contact with an angled surface. So the bigger the deflection, it is the more off-center.
Size of tip
The size of the tip on an English pool cue can be adjusted depending on the type of game being played. The average cue tip measurement is approximately 9.5mm. An American cue has a much larger tip than an English pool cue, which makes striking the cue ball very easy. These cues, however, are hard to aim and not the best for Snooker.

Common parts of an English Pool Cue
English pool cues can be made from Ash wood. The ferrule is usually brass and the tip has a leather-like texture for grip. They are the thinnest of all pool cues, with a length of around 57 inches and a tip that is about 8 to 9 millimeters wide. Ash is a tough wood that doesn't show its grain pattern. English cues are also flexibler than American counterparts, so they are less likely be warped.
Price of an English pool cue
A pool cue in English can range from PS30 to PS300, depending on the quality. A cue of good quality should last many years. An English pool cue's performance is affected by many factors, including the tip and size.
