The American Poolplayers Association is the world's largest pool league. It is home to nearly 270,000 members from the United States, Canada, Japan and other countries. Franchise Business Review named them one of the top small businesses opportunities.
The sanctioning body of amateur pool competitions in Canada, the United States, and the United States is APA. They organize major pool tournaments throughout the year, including APA World Pool Championships. Guinness World Records proclaimed 2010 the APA World Pool Championships "World's Largest Pool Tournament".
APA also runs eight-ball, nine-ball tournaments. Each player in an APA-affiliated team must have a APA membership. Participants from other pool associations are also eligible. If you are interested in joining APA, you can submit a Membership Application to your local APA League Operator. The President of APA will then interview you.

APA hosts three other annual championships. These include the APA Junior Championships, which are open to children and teenagers aged 7 to 18 years.
The APA Poolplayer Championships are held in Las Vegas, Nevada. They typically take place in the late April or early mai. The tournament allows qualified poolplayers the chance to compete against poolplayers all over the world.
Several other international tournaments are conducted by APA, including the APA World Pool Championships in Singapore. These tournaments can be organized by APA League Operator franchisees. Those who do not qualify to compete at a national level can still take part in qualifying tournaments. Some players refer to APA's handicapping system as the "Equalizer". Unlike other tournaments, APA's handicapping system is not based on A-D rankings. It instead uses a proprietary system that ranks the highest 3 scores. It is possible to get more than three ratings.
There are also some APA franchisees who have a conflict of interest. One franchisee was accused of exiling players. APA is allowed to make the decision. However, the franchisee posted in several ** groups and had recruited players to his place. The franchisee tried to claim that APA had thrown out a few players from his territory.

Several APA League Operators have won the coveted APA League Operator of the Year award. Five of these five operators were recognized at the APA Annual Convention in Las Vegas. One of them was recognized as the only APA office in the world to have won the award twice.
Another reason to join APA is the network of franchise locations. APA has an active network of more than 270 League Operators in the United States, Canada, and Japan. Some of these places offer in-house divisions. Although APA is the largest pool league in the world, a local League Operator does not have the authority to switch to a different league.
APA has a network of over 270,000 members. However, there are more that 270 League Operators who organize tournaments. These locations are associated with APA, and may have additional fees. Depending on the market, the fee for a franchisee may include licensing fees and equipment. Marketing expenses are also possible.
