The World Trick Shot Championship is the world's championship of trick shot billiards. It was held on snooker tables for the first time in 1991. Matchroom Sport was responsible for organizing the event. Matchroom Sport organized it. The competition was held at Celtic Manor in 2005.
Many professional billiards players from around the world began performing tricks shots in the 1970s. These players were given prizes, such as the World Championship of Artistic Pool or the International Challenge Cup. Trick shot is a pool game that has been sanctioned by The World Pool-Billiard Assocation. Apart from participating in tournaments, trick shooters also teach the sport.
Since the late 1970s, Mike Massey has been one of the most well-known trick shot artists in the world. He has been a part of many games with celebrities such as Jason Gedrick, Paul Sorvino and others. Massey is also an instructor and fund-raiser for the sport. Massey's performances at the Waste Management Pheonix Open, and at the Volvo PGA at Wentworth have earned him a lot of attention.
Mike Massey has been instructing professionals in the sport such as Scott Baiin and Dean Cain. He has competed in several international professional competitions. In 2002, he was part of Team U.S.A. which won the trick shot championship world title. The team also performed at the HSBC Championships Abu Dhabi and the Commercial Bank Qatar Masters.
Jim Sommer is another talented trick shot artist. He has played in many international Trick-shot turnering events and has also traveled to the United States to compete in the US Nationals. He is the US Nationals Artistic Pool Championship Champion.
The World Trick Shot Artists Association of (WTSAA), a group that includes trick shot artists from all parts of the globe, is called the World Trick Shot Artists Association. The association is organized by world champion Paul Gerni. The WTSAA books contains 160 tricks. Some of these tricks are the machine gun shot (kick), quick-fire shot, and other trick shots. Other trick shots include "pro" shot (extremely cut shot), and "proper" shot.
Tim "The Dragon", Chin (2022 US Nationals Artistic Pool Champion), won the prestigious title defeating Jason Lynch (The Michigan Kid) in the finals. Both Lynch and Chin are WPA World Ranked. Lynch is still a student at Ohio State. However, Chin is an experienced professional who has the advantage.
The Trick Shot Magic next event will take place from October 9-10. This competition will feature eight international stars of the sport. They will compete to win a purse of $40,000. Each player will be able to choose six to ten pre-defined shots. Each player will get three chances at completing the shot once they have chosen their favorites. Each player who makes a successful shot earns a point.
For many years, the best trick shot artist in the world was Geoff McIlroy. Noel Hunt taught him how to do trick shots. He has been on ladders, met people he didn't expect to meet and has fallen off them all but he has not stopped trying.
